Wheat initiATive Crop Health Alliance

About WATCH-A

The Wheat initiATive Crop Health Alliance – WATCH-A was established to develop detailed and timely information on wheat disease occurrence and support global monitoring of disease and pest outbreaks. The program operates within the framework of the Wheat Initiative; a global platform committed to advancing wheat research. WATCH-A also collaborates closely with CABI, an international organisation specialising in agricultural science, to enhance pest and disease diagnosis and monitoring worldwide.

What We Do

  • Initiate projects based on established national programs for disease and pest diagnosis and monitoring, applying common, consistent analysis techniques.

  • Provide global access to an expanding database of information, including pathogen, pest, and host sequence data.

  • Ensure effective access to data, biological isolates, and screening protocols.

  • Gradually expand monitoring activities to build a comprehensive global surveillance system.
